How do you reconcile the words of the 4th amendment to the Constitution of the United States of America with the programs that have been made public in recent days?   What possible probable cause could lead to a warrant for the phone records of every Verizon customer or any user of the internet?  How did we get to a point where electronic data is not considered a personal effect worthy of protection from unreasonable search and seizure?

It is time to restore the 4th amendment.

First, email your Congressional representatives. Send them a copy of the text of the 4th amendment because it seems they must have forgotten about it. Here is the text:

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

Second, join others in reminding our government of our inalienable 4th amendment rights. There are groups on Reddit, Facebook, and soon to be many more.

Finally, stay informed.
